Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about Sousou, circles, and how community savings work.
- What is Sousou?
- Sousou is a communal savings platform. You join or create 'circles'—groups of people who save together. Each circle runs in cycles and rounds: everyone contributes a set amount on a schedule, and each round one member receives the full pot. It's the same idea as traditional savings circles or tontines, with a modern app to manage everything.
- What is a circle?
- A circle is a group of people who have agreed to save together. The circle creator sets the contribution amount, currency, and schedule. Members join by invitation, contribute when their round is active, and receive the pot when it's their turn.
- What are cycles and rounds?
- A cycle is a full rotation where every member gets the pot once. A round is one step in that cycle—one member contributes and one member receives. The app shows you the calendar of rounds so you know when to contribute and when you'll receive.
- Is my money safe?
- Sousou provides the structure and tools to run your circle: tracking contributions, rounds, and payouts. How money is actually held and transferred depends on your circle's setup and the payment methods you use. We recommend only joining circles with people you trust and reading our terms and any payment provider terms.
- How do I get started?
- Download the Sousou app, sign up, and either create a new circle or accept an invitation to join an existing one. You can explore the app and read our How it works section on the website for a full overview.
- Who can I invite to my circle?
- You can invite anyone you trust—family, friends, colleagues, or community members. Circle creators and admins manage invitations; members join via a link or code. We recommend keeping circles to people who will contribute on time.
